Training & EXPERIENCE
Deenya Aliste has danced many styles, from modern to tap. She started FCBD® style in 2008 and has been dedicated to the dance since.
She earned her General Skills certification in 2013, Teacher Training certification in 2014, and has completed Sister Studio Continuing Education re-certification every year since.
Deenya Aliste danced in the Chicago area with FCBD® performance troupe Smoke from 2010-2016 and led FCBD® performance troupe Jamillah 2015-2016. She danced in Boise 2016-2019 both as a solo artist and with other FCBD® dancers.
Currently she lives and teaches dance in Bozeman, MT. She is a member of Sisterhood al Sayf, a virtual troupe that specializes in classic FCBD® Style and FCBD® with Sword. Members of this quartet live in four different states and perform across the US.
The name "Cold Smoke Tribal" honors Deenya Aliste's dance roots and incorporates the spirit of her home in the West.
Deenya Aliste's original teacher and troupe director was inspired by Carolena's words that certain moves look like 'smoke rising into the air.' This image was so powerful for her that she named her troupe "Smoke."
In Montana, Cold Smoke refers to the light powder coveted by skiers and boarders.
Cold Smoke Tribal embodies the love of movement, the thrill of play, and the coziness of community.
Deenya Aliste learned FCBD® style belly dance from Sister Studio Samantha Brenneman. She continues her studies with founder and globally acclaimed Master Teacher Carolena Nericcio and several advanced FCBD® teachers.
Deenya Aliste studies FCBD® with sword with Amina, the creator of this style and a globally acclaimed dance instructor. Amina is a member of, and sword mama for, Sisterhood al Sayf.
